Welcome to ACODE the Australasian Council on Open, Distance and E-Learning, the peak Australasian organisation for universities engaged or interested in open, distance, flexible and e-learning.
ACODE's mission is to enhance policy and practice in open, distance, flexible and e-learning in Australasian higher education.
ACODE seeks to influence policy and practice at institutional, national and international levels through:
- disseminating and sharing knowledge and expertise
- supporting professional development and providing networking opportunities
- investigating, developing and evaluating new approaches
- advising and influencing key bodies in higher education
- promoting best practice.
Mr Gordon Suddaby from Massey University in New Zealand is the new President of ACODE, the peak Australasian organisation for universities engaged or interested in open, distance, flexible and e-learning. Mr Suddaby succeeds Professor Alan Smith from University of Southern Queensland.
ACODE currently has 41 institutional members including most Australian and New Zealand universities as well as the University of the South Pacific. In recent years ACODE has extended its working relationships with other organisations including CAUL, CAUDIT, the AVCC, DEST and the New Zealand Ministry of Education.
