Maybe this is my misunderstanding - and maybe it doesn't matter - but we are just using the Benchmarking tool to record our  final agreed rating, rationale and evidence for each BM and PI.  All the work leading up to that, such as the individual self-assessments, is being done and recorded outside of the tool.

Presumably that's fine?  It's worked well for us.
